Monica Martinez for Council (“we,” “us,” or the “campaign”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect through monica4council.com, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Mobile numbers and SMS consent
We do not share mobile numbers or SMS consent with third parties for marketing or promotional purposes.
Mobile numbers collected through our sign-up form are used only to send you the campaign text messages you opted in to receive, and to respond when you contact us. You can stop the messages at any time by replying STOP, or get help by replying HELP or emailing anna@monica4council.com.
Information we collect
- Information you give us. When you use our sign-up form, we collect your name, email address, and optionally your phone number and ZIP code, along with the ways you told us you would like to help and whether you consented to receive text messages.
- Contribution information. If you contribute, our donation processor collects the information needed to process your payment and to meet campaign finance reporting requirements, such as your name, address, employer, and occupation. We do not store your full payment card details.
- Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our hosting provider may log basic technical information such as IP address, browser type, and pages visited, in order to operate and secure the Site.
How we use your information
- To send you the campaign updates, volunteer opportunities, event invitations, and voting information you signed up to receive.
- To follow up about how you told us you would like to help, including volunteer shifts, events, and yard signs.
- To process and acknowledge contributions.
- To operate, maintain, and improve the Site.
- To comply with applicable law, including campaign finance reporting.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share mobile numbers or SMS consent with third parties for marketing or promotional purposes. We share information only in these limited circumstances:
- Service providers. We use trusted vendors to run the campaign — for example, our form and email providers, our text message provider, our donation processor, and our website host. They may process your information only to provide services to us, and not for their own marketing.
- Legal and campaign finance requirements. Colorado and Denver campaign finance law require us to publicly report certain information about contributors, such as name, address, employer, occupation, and contribution amount. We may also disclose information when required by law or to protect the rights and safety of others.
- Campaign volunteers and staff. Authorized volunteers and staff may access contact information as needed to carry out campaign activities, such as calling or texting supporters about upcoming events.
Cookies and analytics
The Site uses only the cookies and similar technologies needed for basic functionality and, where applicable, aggregate traffic measurement. You can control cookies through your browser settings. Embedded third-party content, such as our video player or donation page, may set its own cookies under its provider's policies.
Your choices
- Text messages. Reply STOP to any message to stop receiving texts, or reply HELP for help.
- Email. Use the unsubscribe link in any campaign email, or email us to be removed.
- Access and deletion. Email anna@monica4council.com to ask what information we have about you, to correct it, or to ask us to delete it. Note that information we are required to report under campaign finance law cannot be withdrawn from public records.
Data security
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect the information we collect, and we limit access to those who need it to do campaign work. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children's privacy
The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and post the new policy on this page.
